I'll be doing a full review of this doujinshi cd when I wake up tomorrow. So just wait a few hours to know what I think about this awesome cd that was released in the
Reitaisai4.
And I might as well, do a review about the awesome demo of the
Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith.
As promised, here's the review for the album, just to make it easier to follow, I'll concentrate on the good songs and just ignore the not so good ones, so I hope everyone can forgive for not going into a full song-by-song review.
月まで届け、不死の煙 - Phoenix. This first track is awesome, it starts slowly and has a peaceful tune but when it gets half-way through the end it starts to kick even more ass, but at the same time it gets weird. For those who have played Zone of the Enders 2, the second part of this song sounds exactly like the one in the opening of ZoE2, I'm not joking, looks like the same instrumental. But it's a bad thing? Of course not! The opening kicks ass and so do this song! Period. Next!
懐かしき東方の血. After such a powerful start, this song comes in to break the peace, it's slow and almost makes you sleep, the melody from the violins are done perfectly and the piano helps to make every second of the song enjoyable, the main purpose of this song is to prepare you for all the other songs that will come.
エクステンドアッシュ - 鳳莱雀萃 -Extend Ash-. My Favorite song? Nah, but it's on the top of the list. This song kicks ass for the second it starts and it keeps like that for the whole duration of the song. There isn't much to say even if I love this song, just hear and you'll understand. There's even some random pieces of voice on it that adds to the song...I know it's just some random noise but it's still nice.
幽雅に咲かせ、墨染の桜. I really didn't liked that song when I first listened to it, maybe because of the techno beat of the others weird sounds that has on it, but after you listen to it for 2 or 3 times it starts to grow on you, the only complain I've about it, it's the length of the song. Five minutes is too much, they could have cut it on the 3 minutes mark and it would be so much better.
千年幻想郷. Favorite song on the album. Perfect union of drums, violin and piano. Can't ask for anything else, if you can't enjoy this song you probably have some ear problems, really. The violin is top notch and the drums just add it to the whole song, it would be a....I wouldn't say bad song, but without the drums the song would lack something, it would be much more simplistic and not memorable as it is now.
That's all for the review, I skipped 4 tracks of the CD, not because they aren't good, but because they aren't good enough to be mentioned in my opinion. They're still good songs and very enjoyable but compared to those other five songs, they sound just uninspired and too simplistic. TAMUSIC kicked ass once again with this album and they just prove once again that doujinshi music can be very good.
And about the Touhou 10 game, I'll probably do a review in a few days, I just need to figure out why the game only runs on 60fps during the second part of the boss battles. o.o
